The Qudon Foundation is a think tank, an innovation pool, aimed at engineers, professionals and the keen enthusiast:  Some good ideas might stream out of it, they might progress......other ideas might never get past their first concept.

Its core domain is electronic and software engineering based.

In the end it offers a space to showcase some works in progress.

There are no deadlines, no mandated objectives and if it takes 5 years for something to progress past an engineering concept - that's just fine.   The goal isn't necessarily to finish, but to learn lots of interesting things along the way.

-The Qudon Foundation.

A variety of projects are currently under development.

The core effort currently being focused on 3 main projects:

  1. Autonomous Robot with Machine Vision Capability
  2. Flight Control Simulation Support System
  3. A Microcontroller based control & interface board.

In addition to these top level items there is always on going development work supporting other items of interest.  Ranging from PCB development to support some of the above activities to code development to research items of interest, which again tend to feed into one of the three main projects currently in motion.

The Qudon Foundation concept was originally conceived in 2001, implemented in 2002 and has been operating ever since.

Since then its developed a number of projects, published a number of articles and even sponsored the odd conference and provided web space and hosting support to a few good causes.

It remains true to the concept that it's not about rushing to declare something as finished (quite hard to do unless you started with well defined requirements of just what that might be!), but about continously learning something new and making what is already there - just that bit better....

DSP's for All....

It's been a LONG time coming, until now running a TI DSP in your hobby design has been restricted to those who had worked in the business. Otherwise the setup costs of ~$2000 to get going put the 100-150MIP processing punch of a DSP out of reach.

Those who couldn't afford TI have often been drawn down the PIC or ARM
processor paths.

Well now TI are coming out punching at low cost development kits.

The new 2808 ControlCARD Experimenter Kit, gives you a complete kit for $89, pinned out and ready for experimentation. The ControlCARD's themselves can be had for as little as $59!!

And in an major step forward for DSP for all, this low cost kit also comes with a 32KB limited Free version of Code Composer IDE.

Check out texas instruments website for more info: www.ti.com

The 2808 Experimenter Board can be ordered from here for just $89

A 28335 version (with floating point unit built in, plus a ton of other features) will be available soon for only $99.

Oh and if you need a cheap JTAG, Olimex are selling them for as little as 14 Euro's.
